Maria's Reflections

After reflecting on my journey, I began with a mindset similar to Martha's, focused on completing all the tasks we had. However, as the days passed, I came to understand why Mary enjoyed listening to Jesus. Seeing Him at work in the lives of others has blessed me, I thought I was going to Colombia to help but I actually think I received more.

I’ve witnessed God's faithfulness at every stage, from getting my vacation approved after just one month at the company to all of us flying back to reunite with our families. There was a moment when we nearly missed our flight to Toronto, but as always, He took care of us, and we all made it into the plane.

What stood out the most for me was visiting the Wayuu tribe in Colombia. Their faith and hunger for the word of the Lord is incredible. Rosa and Hernan shared how the community was full of witchcraft and non-believers just a few years ago. But someone planted the seed, and now we are witnessing the fruits of their labour. People from the Wayuu community are putting their trust in the Lord and choosing to follow Him. It doesn't matter from which part of the planet earth you are, God's work continues and He has a special and unique way for each one of us. His power transcends skin color, language, culture, and gender, reminding us that we are all one in Jesus Christ.

We felt their warm welcome, and we wanted them to know that they are seen, loved, and cared for. Although the bus got stuck on our way to visit the first tribe, we arrived there on foot with much excitement to meet them all and embrace them as the family we are.

Furthermore, I want to express our sincere thanks to the donors who are supporting the mission in Colombia. Your generosity is making a real impact on people's lives and bringing joy to many children.

Maria Navas.
